Salary calculator: take-home pay after tax
My Salary Calculator works out your take-home pay after tax: what you keep from your salary after income tax, social security, student loans and pension, country by country, using each government’s own figures.
Which country do you work in?
Coming next
- United States (coming)
How does the salary calculator work?
- Government figures only. Every rate, band and threshold comes from the government’s own pages, and each country has a sources page that lists them with the date we checked them.
- Tested against official examples. Our tests compare each calculator with worked examples the government publishes, so a wrong rate is caught before it reaches the site.
- Private. The sums run in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
- Open method. Every step and formula is written out on how we calculate, and every figure is on the sources page.
- The whole picture. Tax band by band, social security, student loans and pensions where they apply, what your employer pays on top, and what changed since last year.
My Salary Calculator is independent. It is not part of, or approved by, any government or tax authority, and its figures are estimates, not financial or tax advice.
Questions
How do I calculate my salary after tax?
Choose your country above and type your pay before tax. The calculator takes off income tax band by band, then social security, any student loan and your pension, and shows what you keep each year, month, week, day and hour. Every step is written out on how we calculate.
Which countries do you cover?
Live today: United Kingdom. Coming next: United States. Each country has its own salary calculator, salary pages and guides, built on that country’s own tax rules.
Where do the tax figures come from?
Only from each government’s own published pages. Every country has a sources page listing each rate and threshold, where it comes from and the date we last checked it.
Is it free?
Yes. There is no sign-up and nothing to pay. Ads will pay for the site, and they are never placed inside a calculator.
Do you store the salary I type?
No. Every calculator runs in your own browser. Nothing you type is sent to us or anyone else.
Is this an official government site?
No. My Salary Calculator is independent and not linked to any government or tax authority. Each country’s pages link to that government’s own tool, which you should use for your own tax position.
Can you add my country?
We add a country only when every figure can be traced to its government’s own pages and our sums match its published examples. Tell us which country you would like at hello@mysalarycalculator.app.
